Elegant Simplicity for This Week’s Colour Combo

I created this soft, elegant thank you card for this week’s Global Design Project colour challenge using Lost Lagoon, Petal Pink, and Timid Tiger. I loved the dreamy mix of tones and wanted the butterfly to take center stage.

🦋 The Butterfly Steals the Show
I stamped the butterfly in Memento Black ink, then die cut it and used a water brush to blend Petal Pink and Timid Tiger for a delicate ombré effect. The soft ink blending brought the wings to life and gave them a beautiful, glowing finish.

🪻 Embossed Floral Background
To add texture without overwhelming the design, I embossed a panel of Basic White cardstock using the Glass & Gardens 3D Embossing Folder. I love how the floral design peeks through behind the butterfly, keeping the background subtle yet elegant.

🎨 Background + Base Layers
The card base is made from Lost Lagoon cardstock, and I added a piece of stack DPS from the Subtles collection in Lost Lagoon behind the embossed layer for extra interest. It’s a soft touch that ties everything together without pulling focus from the butterfly.

💛 Finishing Touches
A few matte black dots and a clean, simple sentiment completed the look. This design is all about using simple elements with intention, and letting the colours speak for themselves.
