White on White: Sunflower Birthday Card

🌍 Global Design Colour Challenge

How This Sketch Sparked My Creativity – GDP506 Challenge

This week’s Global Design Project challenge features a sketch — and while most reach for colour, I went full monochrome. Who says a card needs colour to be stunning? With the right textures and a little sparkle, white-on-white can make just as bold a statement.

Embossing with Impact
I reached for the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and layered it with the Cane Weave 3D to create a white-on-white combo that lets the textures do all the talking. The top and bottom edges of each embossed panel are gently torn to give just a hint of softness and dimension.

🩶 All White Everything
While most might turn to colour for contrast, I wanted to challenge myself to create depth with only white cardstock and glitter paper. The result? A classic card with a timeless feel — and yes, a little sparkle too.

Sentiment & Sparkle
The Happy Birthday sentiment is die cut with white glitter paper and stacked for dimension. I added just a few Opal Rounds for that final finishing touch — they catch the light beautifully without stealing the spotlight.

Who needs colour when you’ve got texture, layers, and sparkle? Don’t be afraid to go all in on all white — it’s classic, unexpected, and absolutely worth trying.
